Abstract
Disclosed is an immunological or vaccine composition that includes at least one plasmid that contains and expresses in vivo in host canine cells a nucleic acid molecule that encodes an antigen of a canine pathogen, such as rabies G. The plasmid can include more that one nucleic acid molecule such that the plasmid can express more than one antigen. Also disclosed are methods for using and kits employing such compositions.
Claims15
A method for vaccinating a Canidae comprising administering to said Canidae an effective amount of a vaccine comprising an effective amount of a plasmid that contains and expresses in a Canidae host cell a nucleic acid molecule having a nucleic acid sequence encoding rabies glycoprotein G, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the vaccine provides complete protection against rabies for at least one year following a single administration of the vaccine.
A method for vaccinating a Canidae comprising administering to said Canidae an effective amount of a vaccine comprising 200 μg or less of a plasmid that contains and expresses in a Canidae host cell a nucleic acid molecule having a nucleic acid sequence encoding rabies glycoprotein G, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the vaccine provides complete protection against rabies for at least one year.
