Abstract
An isolated, water-soluble polypeptide fragment of human tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase is useful for the inhibition of angiogenesis. The polypeptide has the amino acid residue sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 7, SEQ ID NO: 12, or an angiogenesis inhibiting fragment thereof, the fragment including at least one of amino acid residue signature sequences HVGH (SEQ ID NO:10) and KMSAS (SEQ ID NO:11). Methods of using the polypeptide to inhibit angiogenesis are also provided.
Claims10
An isolated, water-soluble polypeptide consisting of the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 12.
An isolated polypeptide consisting of the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:7.
An injectable angiostatic composition comprising a pharmacologically acceptable aqueous excipient and a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 7, a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 12, and an angiogenesis inhibiting fragment of a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 12, the composition containing the polypeptide in a concentration of at least 0.1 milligrams per milliliter of the aqueous excipient, the fragment of SEQ ID NO:
- 12 including at least one of amino acid residue signature sequences HVGH (SEQ ID NO:10) and KMSAS (SEQ ID NO:11).
