Abstract
A vehicle control system includes at least one driver input, a supervisor and at least one sub-system controlled by the supervisor. The supervisor assesses the driver input to establish actual driver demand and controls the sub-systems accordingly. As a result intuitive driver demand is identified and met.
Claims23
A control system for a vehicle, having:
- a driver input,
- a control actuator, and
- a control processor, wherein the control processor is arranged to process the driver input, derive actual driver demand, derive a demanded yaw rate, determine actual yaw rate, and control the vehicle via the control actuator to perform in accordance with the driver demand, the control processor receiving as a further input a performance factor for deriving driver demand, the performance factor being determined by one of detecting driver performance and driver control, the performance factor being a progressive value, and the control actuators being adaptable to the same said value to change the lateral responsiveness of the vehicle.
A vehicle, including a control system comprising:
- a driver input,
- a control actuator, and
- a control processor, wherein the control processor is arranged to process the driver input, derive actual driver demand, derive a demanded yaw rate, determine actual yaw rate, and control the vehicle via the control actuator to perform in accordance with the driver demand, the control processor receiving as a further input a performance factor for deriving driver demand, the performance factor being determined by one of detecting driver performance and driver control, the performance factor being a progressive value, and the control actuators being adaptable to the same said value to change the lateral responsiveness of the vehicle.
A computer readable medium comprising an instruction set configured to implement a system comprising:
- a driver input,
- a control actuator, and
- a control processor, wherein the control processor is arranged to process the driver input, derive actual driver demand, derive a demanded yaw rate, determine actual yaw rate, and control the vehicle via the control actuator to perform in accordance with the driver demand, the control processor receiving as a further input a performance factor for deriving driver demand, the performance factor being determined by one of detecting driver performance and driver control, the performance factor being a progressive value, and the control actuators being adaptable to the same said value to change the lateral responsiveness of the vehicle.
