• R1-R3 and R6-R16 are each independently selected from —H, halogen, heteroaryl, —CO2H, —CO2R, —SO3H, —SO3R, —CH2CO2H, —CH2CO2R, —CH2SO3H, —CH2SO3R, —CH2NH2, —CH2NHR, —NO2, C1-C6 alkyl, substituted C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, substituted C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkoxyaryl, substituted C1-C6 alkoxyaryl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, biphenyl, substituted biphenyl, benzyl, substituted benzyl, benzoyl, substituted benzoyl, wherein R is selected from C1-C6 alkyl, substituted C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, substituted C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkoxyaryl, substituted C1-C6 alkoxyaryl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, biphenyl, substituted biphenyl, benzyl, substituted benzyl, benzoyl, and substituted benzoyl;
• and
• R4 and R5 taken separately are selected from C1-C6 alkyl and C1-C6 substituted alkyl, R4 and R5 taken together are selected from C3-C7 cycloalkyl, C4-C7 unsaturated cycloalkyl, C3-C7 substituted cycloalkyl and C4-C7 substituted unsaturated cycloalkyl;
• wherein or and R6-R16 is —SO3H;
• with the proviso that if the compound comprises the structure (I), then at least one of R1, R2, R3 or R8 is not —H.
