Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for preparing an ethanol producing, xylose utilizing strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae comprising genes for overexpression of xylose reductase, xylitol dehydrogenase and xylulokinase, wherein in addition to said genes for production o phosphoacetyltransferase, and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase are introduced and optionally overexpressed.
Claims3
A method for preparing an ethanol producing, xylose utilizing strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae comprising introducing and overexpressing
- a xylose reductase gene,
- a xylitol dehydrogenase gene,
- a xylulokinase gene,
- a Bacillus subtilis phosphoacetyltransferase gene, and
- an Entamoeba histolytica aldehyde dehydrogenase gene in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain, wherein said Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain comprises a deletion of the endogenous aldehyde dehydrogenase (ald6) gene.
