Abstract
A rubbing method, i.e., a method of forming an alignment layer, of a liquid crystal display device includes providing a substrate, applying an alignment layer on the substrate, applying a magnetic field to the alignment layer by a magnetic field generator and firing the alignment layer.
Claims12
A method of forming an alignment layer of a liquid crystal display device, the method comprising:
- providing a substrate;
- applying an alignment layer material onto the substrate;
- applying a magnetic field to directionally align the alignment layer material by a magnetic field generator;
- and
- firing the directionally aligned alignment layer material to fix a shape of the alignment layer.

A method of forming an alignment layer for a liquid crystal display device, the method comprising:
- providing a substrate;
- applying an alignment liquid containing a magneto-rheological fluid onto the substrate to form an alignment layer;
- rotating the substrate on which the alignment layer has been applied at a certain angle;
- passing the substrate under a magnetic field generating device by moving the substrate and forming a valley having a rubbing angle θ1 to determine a pre-tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules by exposing the alignment layer to a magnetic field;
- and
- firing the alignment layer exposed to the magnetic field to fix a shape of the alignment layer.
