Abstract
A projection optical system is disclosed with which undistorted images can be obtained at any image position within a specification range, and whose projection angle can be changed. The projection optical system includes a plurality of optical elements and a first optical system constituted by at least one of the plurality of optical elements having the ability to form an image with light onto a predetermined surface different from the projection surface. A projection image of the original image can be moved by rotating a first optical element of the plurality of optical elements substantially around a center of an exit pupil position of the first optical system as the rotation center.

A projection optical system projecting light from an original image onto a projection surface, comprising:
- a plurality of optical elements,
- wherein a first optical system is constituted by at least one of the plurality of optical elements and has an ability to form an image of the original image on a predetermined surface different from the projection surface;
- and
- wherein a first optical element of the plurality of optical elements is rotated substantially around a center of an exit pupil of the first optical system, such that a projection image of the original image is moved.
A projection optical system projecting light from an original image onto a projection surface, comprising:
- a first optical system having an ability to form an image with the light onto a surface different from the projection surface;
- a second optical system guiding light from the first optical system toward the projection surface and forming a projection image of the original image on the projection surface;
- and
- an optical element arranged between the first and the second optical systems, wherein at least one of the first and the second optical systems and the optical element is rotated substantially around a center of an exit pupil of the first optical system, such that the projection image on the projection surface is moved.
An image projection apparatus comprising:
- an image forming element forming an original image;
- and
- a projection optical system projecting light from the original image onto a projection surface, wherein the projection optical system includes, a first optical system having an ability to form an image with the light onto a surface different from the projection surface;
- a second optical system guiding light from the first optical system toward the projection surface and forming a projection image of the original image on the projection surface;
- and
- an optical element arranged between the first and the second optical systems, wherein at least one of the first and the second optical systems and the optical element is rotated substantially around a center of an exit pupil of the first optical system, such that the projection image on the projection surface is moved.
