Abstract
Apparatus and methods for altering one or more spectral, spatial, or temporal characteristics of a light-emitting device are disclosed. Generally, such apparatus may include a volume Bragg grating (VBG) element that receives input light generated by a light-emitting device, conditions one or more characteristics of the input light, and causes the light-emitting device to generate light having the one or more characteristics of the conditioned light.
Claims13
Apparatus for conditioning a characteristic of an array of laser emitters, the apparatus comprising:
- an array of laser-emitting devices disposed along an array axis;
- and
- a wavelength multiplexer comprising a three-dimensional optical element having a Bragg grating therein, the Bragg grating having a grating period that varies as a function of position along an axis of the Bragg grating that is parallel to the array axis,
- wherein the optical element receives input light generated by the array of laser-emitting devices, wherein the light generated by the array of laser-emitting devices is simultaneously combined and conditioned via a feedback that passes through the wavelength multiplexer.
