Abstract
The present invention provides a protein having low-substrate-specific amino acid racemase activity; DNA encoding the protein; a recombinant DNA comprising the DNA; a transformant carrying the recombinant DNA; a process for producing the protein by using the transformant; and a process for producing a racemic amino acid which comprises allowing a culture of the transformant or a treated matter thereof as an enzyme source and an amino acid to be present in an aqueous medium to racemize the amino acid in the aqueous medium, and recovering the racemic amino acid from the aqueous medium.
Claims18
An isolated DNA encoding a protein having an amino acid sequence which has at least 95% homology with the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and having low-substrate-specific amino acid racemase activity.
An isolated DNA having the nucleotide sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 3.
An isolated DNA which hybridizes with DNA consisting of a nucleotide sequence complementary to the nucleotide sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 3 under the following conditions:
- hybridization in the presence of 0.7 to 1.0 mol/l sodium chloride at 65° C., and washing in a 0.1 to 2-fold conc. SSC solution at 65° C., and which encode a protein having low-substrate-specific amino acid racemase activity.
An isolated DNA encoding the protein having the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
