- contacting a lipophilic fluid comprising at least one contaminant with a multifunctional filter comprising a removal component that is capable of removing a material from a filtrate, said removal component comprising a polar agent, an apolar agent and a charged agent, and said filter also comprising an addition component that is capable of adding a material to a filtrate;
- wherein the lipophilic fluid is selected from the group consisting of C6 or higher diols, cyclic or acyclic organosilicones, glycol ethers, perfluorinated amines, and mixtures thereof;
- and the addition component comprises a releasing agent selected from the group consisting of perfumes, anti-static agents, fabric softening agents, and mixtures thereof, wherein said removal component and said addition component are present in separate, discrete zones in said filter, whereby the lipophilic fluid is purified by said removal component and the purified fluid contacts said addition component.
