Abstract
Radiation detectors, such as neutron detectors, and methods of detecting radiation, are described.
Claims29
A detector, comprising:
- a structure comprising a plurality of connected fibers defining spaces between the fibers;
- and
- a first material in the spaces, the first material being capable of interacting with charged particles to produce one or more electrons or photons;
- wherein the first material comprises a gas.

A detector, comprising:
- a structure comprising a plurality of connected fibers defining spaces between the fibers;
- and
- a first material in the spaces, the first material being capable of interacting with charged particles to produce one or more electrons or photons;
- wherein the first material comprises a phosphor material.

A method of detecting neutrons, the method comprising:
- contacting neutrons to a structure comprising:
- (i) connected fibers defining spaces between the connected fibers, and
- (ii) a first material in the spaces,
- the neutrons producing one or more charged particles;
- contacting the one or more charged particles to the first material to produce one or more photons;
- and
- detecting the one or more photons.
