Abstract
This invention relates to attenuated pestiviruses characterised in that their enzymatic activity residing in glycoprotein ERNS is inactivated, methods of preparing, using and detecting these.
Claims49
A purified BVDV or CSFV pestivirus, wherein the RNase activity of glycoprotein ERNS is inactivated by a mutation of at least one amino acid of said glycoprotein with the proviso that when said pestivirus is the CSFV pestivirus, the amino acid at position 297 or 346 of SEQ ID NO:
- 34 is not lysine.
A purified pestivirus wherein the RNase activity of glycoprotein ERNS is inactivated by a mutation of at least one amino acid located in the conserved ERNS sequence SLHGIWPEKIC.
A purified pestivirus wherein the RNase activity of glycoprotein ERNS is inactivated by a mutation of at least one amino acid located in the conserved ERNS sequence RHEWNKHGWCNW.
A purified BVDV pestivirus, wherein the RNase activity of glycoprotein ERNS is inactivated by a mutation of at least one amino acid of said glycoprotein.
