Abstract
The present invention generally relates to the preparation of mixed actinide oxides, such as mixed oxides of uranium and plutonium (U, Pu) O2, by simultaneously coprecipitation and then calcinations.
Claims54
A process for coprecipitating actinides in oxidation state (IV) in which:
- adding an actinide (IV) selective organic complexing agent and composed uniquely of atoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen, to a first aqueous solution of an actinide An1 in oxidation state (IV) in order to form a complex of the actinide An1 in oxidation state (IV);
- adding said complexing agent to at least one second aqueous solution of an actinide An2 in oxidation state (IV) in order to form a complex of the actinide An2 in oxidation state (IV);
- intimately mixing said at least first and second solutions of complexes;
- simultaneously precipitating said at least two An1 (IV) and An2 (IV) actinide complexes from said mixture.
1 more element
A process for coprecipitating actinides in oxidation state (IV) in which:
- intimately mixing a first aqueous solution of an actinide An1 an oxidation state less than IV and at least one second aqueous solution of an actinide An2 in an oxidation state greater than IV;
- adding an actinide (IV) selective, organic complexing agent, and composed uniquely of atoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen, to said mixture, in such a way as to spontaneously bring, by redox reaction, the at least two actinides An1 and An2 to the oxidation state IV and form complexes of actinides An1 and An2 in oxidation state IV;
- simultaneously precipitating said at least two actinide complexes An1 (IV) and An2 (IV).
