Method and apparatus for painting groups of objects

A computer program, tangibly stored on a computer-readable medium, for editing digital graphics in response to user input, the computer program comprising instructions for causing a computer to:

• receive a user selection applying a style change to an aggregation, the aggregation being a combination of two or more individual artwork objects, wherein at any given point in time each individual artwork object in the aggregation has two separate and independent styles associated therewith, an aggregation style of the aggregation and an individual object style,
• the aggregation style of the aggregation including one or more attributes that define a visual appearance of the aggregation, and
• each individual object style including one or more attributes that define a visual appearance of a corresponding individual artwork object, wherein the two separate and independent styles each have a value for at least one common attribute;
• and
• automatically determine whether to apply the style change to the aggregation as a whole or to the artwork objects within the aggregation individually.

A graphical processing system for editing digital graphics in response to user input, the system comprising:

• means for receiving a user selection applying a style change to an aggregation, the aggregation being a combination of two or more individual artwork objects, wherein at any given point in time each individual artwork object in the aggregation has two separate and independent styles associated therewith, an aggregation style of the aggregation and an individual object style,
• the aggregation style of the aggregation including one or more attributes that define a visual appearance of the aggregation, and
• each individual object style including one or more attributes that define a visual appearance of a corresponding individual artwork object, wherein the two separate and independent styles each have a value for at least one common attribute;
• and
• means for automatically determining whether to apply the style change to the aggregation as a whole or to the artwork objects within the aggregation individually.
