Abstract
The present invention is related to a novel composition of matter and methods of using the same. More particularly, the invention describes mutant human factor IX which has an increased resistance to inhibition by heparin. Methods of making and using this composition for the therapeutic intervention of hemophilia are disclosed.
Claims11
A mutant human factor IX comprising a mutation in the heparin binding domain which decreases its affinity for heparin as compared to wild-type human factor IX, wherein said mutation is a mutation of the amino acid residue 298, 303, 304, 312, 315, 447, 450, 456, or 458 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2.
A mutant human factor IX having a mutation at amino acid residue 450 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, wherein said mutation decreases the affinity of said mutant human factor IX for heparin as compared to wild-type human factor IX.
