Abstract
The invention provides β3-adrenoreceptor agonists, pharmaceutical compositions comprising β3-adrenoreceptor agonist compounds, and methods of using such compounds for stimulating, regulating or modulating metabolism of fats in adipose tissue in animals.

A pharmaceutical composition, comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and at least one β3-adrenoreceptor agonist compound having the structure:
- wherein:
- R1 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of Br and Cl;
- R6 and R7 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and halogen;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl of from 1 to about 8 carbons, halogen, OCH3, and CF3;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A method of stimulating β3-adrenoreceptor agonist activity in an animal for the purpose of weight loss or weight control in the animal or to treat a condition selected from the group consisting of obesity, diabetes, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance, comprising administering an effective amount of at least one β3-adrenoreceptor agonist compound to the animal, the compound having the structure:
- wherein:
- R1 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of Br and Cl;
- R6 and R7 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and halogen;
- and
- R8 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl of from 1 to about 8 carbons, halogen, OCH3, and CF3;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
