Abstract
A bicycle signal processing device includes a first bicycle signal processing element that generates a first signal having a first impedance, an external output terminal having an exposed output contact surface, and an impedance converting circuit coupled between the first bicycle signal processing element and the external output terminal for converting the first signal to a second signal having a second impedance at the external output terminal.
Claims38
A bicycle signal processing device comprising:
- a first bicycle signal processing element that generates a first signal at a first impedance, wherein the first bicycle signal processing element is disposed within a housing;
- a first connector coupled to the housing;
- an external output terminal formed at the first connector and having an exposed electrically conductive output contact surface for communicating the first signal from the first bicycle signal processing element to a location outside the housing such that the output contact surface is adapted to contact a second contact surface of a second external terminal formed at a separate second connector when the first connector is connected to the second connector, wherein the output contact surface is exposed to an outside environment external to the housing when the first connector is unconnected from the second connector;
- and
- an impedance converting circuit coupled between the first bicycle signal processing element and the external output terminal for converting the first signal to a second signal at a second impedance at the external output terminal to reduce voltage variations caused by current leakage in a signal path after the external output terminal.
In a bicycle signal processing device having a first bicycle signal processing element disposed within a housing, a first connector coupled to the housing, an external output terminal formed at the connector and having an exposed electrically conductive output contact surface for communicating signals from the first bicycle signal processing element to a location outside the housing such that the output contact surface contacts a separate second output contact surface formed at a second connector when the first connector is connected to the second connector, wherein the output contact surface is exposed to an outside environment external to the housing when the first connector is unconnected from the second connector, a method of reducing voltage variations caused by current leakage-in a signal path after the external output terminal comprising the steps of:
- generating a first signal at a first impedance by the first bicycle signal processing element;
- converting the first signal at the first impedance to a second signal at a different second impedance;
- and
- communicating the second signal at the second impedance to the external output terminal.
