Abstract
A source of ions for an analyzer includes a reservoir for containing a liquid, a manifold having a plurality of nozzles, a conduit connecting the reservoir to the manifold and a counter electrode having a potential different between the counter electrode and the nozzles to enable liquid to be ejected from the nozzles in droplets and to enable ions to be ejected from the droplets.
Claims17
An electrospray device for spraying a liquid in a mass spectrometer ion source, comprising:
- (a) a reservoir for containing a liquid, and
- (b) a manifold having a plurality of conical tips, sid manifold in fluid communication with said reservoir.
An ion source, comprising:
- an electrospray device for spraying a liquid, comprising:
- (a) a reservoir for containing a liquid,
- (b) a manifold having a plurality of conical tips, said manifold in fluid communication with said reservoir.
A method for spraying a liquid in an ion source, comprising:
- (a) conveying said liquid from a reservoir containing said liquid to a manifold;
- and
- (b) spraying said liquid from a plurality of conical tips, wherein said manifold is in fluid communication with said reservoir.
