Abstract
A compacting device and a system and a method for compacting a material are provided. The compacting device may have a base and a column which extends from the base. A sleeve may be fitted and secured around the column. The sleeve may have a length which is greater than a length of the column. Material may be collected within the sleeve and may be used for compaction.
Claims12
A system for compacting a material comprising:
- a compacting device having a base having a length defined between a bottom surface and a top surface and further having a column having a length defined between a first end and a second end wherein the first end of the column abuts the top surface of the base forming a first perimeter and further wherein the first end of the column extends from the top surface of the base to the second end of the column having a second perimeter wherein the column has a surface abutting the second end of the column wherein the surface tapers from the first perimeter to the second perimeter and further wherein the compacting device has a sleeve extending from the first end of the column forming a space within the sleeve wherein the material fills the space;
- and
- a roller having a surface wherein the compacting device is attached to the surface of the roller.
A method for compacting a material, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a compacting device having a base defined between a top surface and a bottom surface wherein the top surface has a first perimeter and further having a column defined between a first end and a second end wherein the top surface of the base extends planarly with respect to the bottom surface of the base beyond the first end of the column wherein the second end of the column abuts the top surface of the base defining a second perimeter wherein the second perimeter is less than the first perimeter wherein the column extends from the top surface of the base and further wherein the compacting device has a sleeve around the column wherein the sleeve is secured around the column forming a space within the sleeve to receive the material;
- attaching the compacting device to a roller;
- and
- moving the roller across the material.
