Abstract
The present invention relates to sperm specific surface proteins, nucleic acid sequences encoding those proteins and antibodies raised against those proteins. Compositions comprising the sperm specific proteins or inhibitors of said proteins can be used in contraceptive applications.

A purified polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:

A method of screening conposition that binds SAMP32, said method comprising contacting a SAMP32 polypeptide with a candidate compound;
- and determining if the candidate compound selectively binds to the SAMP32 polypeptide.
A composition for inducing an immune response, said composition comprising a purified polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 9 and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
