Abstract
The present invention relates to antigenic preparations comprising polysaccharides and/or glycopeptides preparable from keratinophilic fungi as well as yeasts, process for the preparation of these antigenic preparations, their use as pharmaceutical substances as well as their use as vaccines, including but not limited to, the prophylaxis and treatment of allergy, as well as for modulating the immune response.
Claims22
A process for the preparation of an antigenic material soluble in aqueous solutions (ASMP) which comprises at least one polysaccharide and at least one glycopeptide, said process consisting of:
- a) contacting fungal cells, which belong to keratinophilic fungi or keratinophilic yeasts, or parts thereof with an aqueous alkaline solution at about 20° C. to about 150° C., thereby obtaining a preparation;
- b) separating said preparation into solid and liquid phases by centrifugation or by sedimentation, thereby obtaining a first supematant;
- c) contacting said first supernatant with mineral or organic acid and allowing solid and liquid phases to separate, thereby obtaining a second supematant;
- and
- d) precipitating out of said second supematant the ASMP.
