Abstract
According to one embodiment of the present invention, a circuit is disclosed. The circuit includes a plurality of driver slices, a portion of the plurality of the driver slices being used to provide a target impedance; a digital matching logic to select the portion of the plurality of the driver slices; and an analog matching circuit to produce a bias voltage to match pull-up and pull-down.
Claims20
An impedance-matched driver circuit comprising:
- a plurality of driver slices, each having an output pad, the driver slices being coupled to each other through respective output pads;
- a digital matching logic coupled to each of the driver slices to selectively turn on driver slices to control an output impedance of the driver;
- and
- an analog matching circuit coupled to each driver slice to produce a bias voltage to match pull-up and pull-down voltages to each driver slice.

A computer system comprising:
- a central processing unit (CPU);
- and
- a memory controller coupled to the CPU to provide data and instructions from a system memory to the CPU, the memory controller including an impedance-matched driver circuit including a plurality of driver slices, each having an output pad, the driver slices being coupled to each other through respective output pads, a digital matching logic coupled to each of the driver slices to selectively turn on driver slices to control an output impedance of the driver, and an analog matching circuit coupled to each driver slice to produce a bias voltage to match pull-up and pull-down voltages to each driver slice.
A method comprising:
- selecting a portion from among a plurality of driver slices using digital matching logic;
- providing a target impedance using the selected portion of the driver slices;
- and
- producing a bias voltage to match pull-up and pull-down using an analog matching circuit.
