Backlight unit for liquid crystal display device

A light guide panel, comprising:

• a panel having an upper surface, a lower surface and a side surface;
• a projection protruded from the side surface of the panel, the projection being thinner than the panel;
• and
• a uniform light projection pattern formed on the lower surface of the panel.

A light guide panel, comprising:

• a mold frame having a groove;
• a light guiding panel;
• and
• a projection protruded from a side surface of the light guiding panel and received in the groove of the mold frame,
• wherein the projection is thinner than the light guiding panel, and the projection is formed on the side surface with distances from planes extended the upper surface and the lower surfaces of the panel.

A light guide panel, comprising:

• a mold frame having a groove;
• a light guiding panel;
• a projection protruded from a side surface of the light guiding panel and received in the groove of the mold frame, wherein the projection is thinner than the light guiding panel;
• a prism sheet disposed on the diffusion sheet;
• and
• a protection sheet disposed on the prism sheet,
• wherein the prism sheet and the diffusion sheet have an extended portion having a shape substantially the same with that of the projection to be received by the groove.

A light guide panel comprising:

• a panel having an upper surface, a lower surface and a side surface;
• and
• a projection protruded from the side surface of the panel, the projection being thinner than the panel;
• wherein at least one side portion of the projection is concavely curved, which is substantially perpendicular to the side surface of the panel, such that a width of the projection in a direction substantially parallel to the side surface of the panel progressively increases as further the projection is close to the side surface of the panel.
