Abstract
An optical scanner includes a CCD and a light monitor window (“LMW”) and a black region adjacent the LMW. The LMW is imaged to provide feedback signals for Red, Green and Blue channels of the CCD. The black region is imaged to remove flare from the feedback signals. The flare-corrected feedback signals may be supplied to gain compensation controls.
Claims11
A chip comprising:
- a processor, responsive to an output of an imaging device, for determining light intensities in an image of a light region and an image of a black region, with the light region and the black region located on a scan head body positioned within the optical scanner;
- the processor configured to use the image of the light region to provide at least one feedback signal indicating color channel intensity;
- and
- the processor configured to use the images of the black region to remove flare from the at least one feedback signal.
1 more element
A method of compensating for non-uniform illumination in an optical scanner, comprising:
- using a bulb to illuminate a black region and a light regions;
- wherein the light region and the black region are located on a scan head body positioned within the optical scanner;
- generating images of the light region and the black region illuminated by the bulb;
- using an image of the light region to provide at least one feedback signal indicating color channel intensity;
- and
- using an image of the black region to remove flare from the at least one feedback signal.
