Abstract
This invention provides a method for diagnosing geriatric diseases associated with insulin resistance, such as type II diabetes, at an early stage and a method for monitoring the therapeutic effects of agents for type II diabetes by quantitatively assaying GBP28 with the use of a monoclonal antibody that can assay adiponectin (GBP28) in a sample.

A monoclonal antibody or fragment thereof, which does not bind with a monomeric structure of adiponectin (GBP28) but specifically binds with GBP28 having a trimer structure of GBP28 and/or a structure of aggregated GBP28 trimers.
A monoclonal antibody or fragment thereof, which does not bind with a monomeric structure of GBP28 but specifically binds with GBP28 having a trimer structure of GBP28 and/or a structure of aggregated GBP28 trimers, wherein said monoclonal antibody recognizes an epitope which appears when the trimer structure of GBP28 is formed.
