Abstract
Disclosed are pharmaceutical composition containing a cyclodextrin and a therapeutically effective amount of a glycopeptide antibiotic or a salt thereof. Also disclosed are methods of treating a bacterial disease in a mammal by administering said pharmaceutical composition.
Claims8
A method for reducing tissue accumulation of a lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic in a mammal, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the mammal in a pharmaceutical composition comprising a cyclodextrin, wherein the lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic accumulates in the mammal in the absence of the cyclodextrin.
A method for reducing tissue accumulation of a lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic in a mammal, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the mammal in a pharmaceutical composition comprising
- an aqueous cyclodextrin carrier,
- wherein the lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic accumulates in the mammal in the absence of the cyclodextrin.
- 1 to 40 weight percent of a cyclodextrin;
- and
- 60 to 99 weight percent of water, based on 100 weight percent of the composition, wherein the lipidated glycopeptide antibiotic accumulates in the mammal in the absence of the cyclodextrin.
