Abstract
The present invention relates to nuclease resistant nucleic acids in general and ribonuclease resistant RNAs in particular. Methods of making and using such nucleic acids are disclosed.
Claims34
A method of encapsidating a nucleic acid in a viral coat protein comprising:
- obtaining a nucleic acid segment, wherein the nucleic acid segment comprises a sequence adapted for use as a standard in detection and/or quantification of a nucleic acid;
- obtaining viral coat protein;
- and
- placing the nucleic acid segment and the viral coat protein together under conditions causing the nucleic acid segment to become encapsidated in the viral coat protein, and
- employing the nucleic acid segment encapsidated in the viral coat protein as a detection and/or quantification standard in an assay for detecting or quantifying a nucleic acid.
