Abstract
This application describes the cloning of p63, a gene at chromosome 3q27-29, that bears homology to the tumor suppressor p53. The p63 gene encodes at least six different isotypes. p63 was detected in a variety of human and mouse tissue and demonstrates remarkably divergent activities, such as the ability to transactivate p53 reporter genes and induce apoptosis. Isotopes of p63 lacking a transactivation domain act as dominant negatives towards the transactivation by p53 and p63.
Claims43
An isolated antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds to a protein consisting of SQ ID NO:
- 16, wherein said antibody or fragment thereof does not specifically bind to a p53 or p73 protein.
An antibody or fragment thereof that is produced by the hybridoma cells that are deposited at the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) under ATCC Deposit number PTA-6626.
A purified preparation of polyclonal antibodies or fragments thereof that specifically bind to a protein consisting of SEQ ID NO:
- 16, wherein said preparation of antibodies or fragment thereof does not specifically bind to a p53 or p73 protein.
A hybridoma cell that is deposited at the American Type Culture Collection under ATCC Deposit number PTA-6626.
