Abstract
A carrier for microorganism incubation of a diffusion type in which microelements and inorganic nutrient salts which are useful in proliferation of microorganism are included in a porous material is provided. This carrier may be employed in a bioreactor for treatment of waste water where high activity and high density of the microorganism is desired.
Claims11
A carrier for microorganism incubation comprising a porous substrate consisting essentially of ceramic, natural stone or rock wool having microelements and inorganic nutrient salts diffused therein, which microelements and inorganic nutrients salts are useful for proliferation of the microorganism, and the surface of said carrier containing said microelements and inorganic nutrient salts diffused therein is coated with a high-molecular weight polymer to control diffusion of said microelements and inorganic nutrient salts.
