Abstract
A dihydrofuran-containing nonlinear optical chromophore having a π-electron donor group conjugated to the dihydrofuran group through a π-electron conjugated bridge group. The nonlinear optical chromophore is a hyperpolarizable chromophore that can be used as an electro-optic modulator in electro-optic devices.
Claims13
A dihydrofuran-containing nonlinear optical chromophore having the structure:
- wherein D is a π-electron donor group;
- wherein B is a π-electron conjugated bridge group that provides electronic conjugation from the donor group to the dihydrofuran;
- and
- wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl groups, R4a, R4b, and R4c are independently selected from F, CN, CF3, and CF3SO2, provided that R4a, R4b, and R4c are not all CN.
A compound selected from the group consisting of
A compound having the structure
A compound having the structure
A compound having the structure:
- wherein X is hydrogen or t-butyldimethylsiloxy.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
