A composition, comprising:
- a dye solution comprising water and a water-soluble complex dye comprising at least one of an azo compound represented by the following formula (1) or its tautomer, and transition metal ions:
- wherein in the formula (1),
- A1 is a 5- to 7-membered hetero monocyclic group or a fused polycyclic group containing such a hetero monocyclic group and may have an optional substituent, provided that it is a group which does not have a hydroxyl group as a substituent at a position adjacent to the carbon atom bonded to the azo group;
- and
- wherein ring X1 represents a monocyclic 6-membered hetero ring being completely C-substituted;
- R1 is a monovalent substituent and R2 is a hydrogen or a monovalent substituent.

A composition comprising the azo dye represented by the above formula (1) or its tautomer, and transition metal ions, and represented by the following formula (7):
- wherein in the formula (7), M represents an optional transition metal ion;
- A2 is a 5- to 7-membered hetero monocyclic group or a fused polycyclic group containing such a hetero monocyclic group, and may have an optional substituent, provided that it represents a group which does not have a hydroxyl group at a position adjacent to the carbon bonded to the azo group;
- ring X2 represents a monocyclic hetero ring constituted by 6 atoms, bonded to the azo group, and may have an optional substituent;
- R18 represents a substituent capable of forming a coordinate bond;
- and R19 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent.
