Abstract
A method of simultaneously determining the concentrations of cardiovascular risk markers selected from the group consisting of High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, triglycerides and oxidized LDL using infra-red and/or near infrared light is described.
Claims6
A method of determining the concentration of High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) comprising:
- subjecting a serum sample to infra-red light;
- collecting at least one spectrum of infrared light after interaction with the sample;
- and
- determining the concentration of HDL-C in the sample based on the intensity of spectral features or patterns over at least one spectral range selected from the group consisting of 900–1500 cm−1, 1500–1800 cm−1, and 2800–3500 cm−1.
1 more element
A method of determining the concentration of Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) comprising:
- subjecting a serum sample to infra-red light;
- collecting at least one spectrum of infrared light after interaction with the sample;
- determining the concentration of LDL-C in the sample based upon the intensity of spectral features or patterns over at least one spectral range selected from the group consisting of 1700–1800 cm−1, and 2800–3000 cm−1.
