Abstract
A process and apparatus are disclosed for the generation of hydrogen from hydrogen rich compounds. The process uses hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer with a hydrogen rich compound forming a mixture such that when the mixture is exposed to a catalyst forming a hydrogen rich gas.
Claims38
A process for the generation of an H2 containing gas comprising contacting a liquid organic compound and a liquid oxidizer in the presence of an initiator at ambient pressure to produce the H2 containing gas.
A process for the production of hydrogen comprising the steps of:
- mixing an alcohol and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a decomposition catalyst at ambient pressure, wherein a gaseous product comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide is produced and the decomposition catalyst is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, Ba, La, Hf, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt, Au, Hg, Sn, and mixtures thereof;
- and
- passing the product gas over a reforming catalyst, wherein a product comprising hydrogen and carbon dioxide is produced and the reforming catalyst is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Cr, Au, Zn, Cu, Pt, Ag, Pd, Rh, Re, Os, Ru, Ir, and mixtures thereof.
