A process for preparing acyl derivatives as prodrugs of 5-(2-(4-(1,2 benzisothiazole-3-yl)-1-piperazinyl)ethyl-6-chloro-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and methods of use as an antipsychotic.

A compound of the formula
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl C1 to C10;
- and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 5.
A process for preparing a compound of formula
- comprising reacting a compound of formula
- with a base wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl C1 to C10;
- and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 5.
A compound of formula
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof wherein R2 is C1-C10 alkyl and n is an integer from 1 to 5.
A compound of the formula
- wherein M is Ca or Ba and n is an integer from 1 to 5.
