Dependent claims

A method for assaying for an inhibitor to a virus RNA-dependent RNA polymerase which comprises:

(a) incubating a solution comprising said polymerase, a template RNA, a primer RNA and a metal ion in the absence of both a test substance and a substrate of said polymerase for 15 minutes or more at 20 to 40° C., and
(b) mixing a test substance and a substrate of said polymerase with said incubated solution.
