Abstract
A method of and apparatus for positioning a stock window covering in a sizing mechanism for sizing the window covering in a retail outlet includes obtaining a width specification for a finished window covering, which includes a bottom rail, a window covering material and a head rail, the method comprising. The stock window covering is disposed in a sizing mechanism adjacent a scale. The scale is calibrated from a cutting plane of the sizing mechanism, and has indicia that are twice the actual distance from the cutting plane. The center of the stock window covering is located on an indicia in the scale having a value equal to the width specification.
Claims18
A method of positioning a stock window covering in a sizing mechanism for sizing the window covering in a retail outlet, the stock window covering including a bottom rail, a window covering material and a head rail, the method comprising:
- obtaining a width specification for a finished window covering;
- disposing the stock window covering in a sizing mechanism adjacent a scale, the scale being calibrated from a cutting plane of the sizing mechanism, the scale having indicia that are twice the actual distance from the cutting plane;
- and
- locating a center of the window covering on an indicium in the scale having a value equal to the width specification.
A method of positioning a stock window covering in a sizing mechanism for sizing the window covering in a retail outlet, the stock window covering including a bottom rail, a window covering material and a head rail, the method comprising:
- obtaining a width specification for a finished window covering;
- disposing the stock window covering on a carriage in the sizing mechanism adjacent a scale, the scale being calibrated from a cutting plane of the sizing mechanism, the scale having indicia that are twice the actual distance from the cutting plane;
- the sizing mechanism including a rail disposed approximately perpendicular to the cutting plane
- moving the carriage within the rail and relative to the scale such that the center of the window covering is located on an indicium in the scale having a value equal to the width specification.
A method of positioning a stock window covering in a sizing mechanism for sizing the window covering in a retail outlet, the stock window covering including a bottom rail, a window covering material and a head rail, the method comprising:
- obtaining a width specification for a finished window covering;
- disposing the stock window covering in a sizing mechanism adjacent a scale, the scale being calibrated from a cutting plane of the sizing mechanism, the scale having indicia that are twice the actual distance from the cutting plane;
- and
- aligning a center of the window covering with an indicium of the scale, wherein the value of the indicium is equal to the width specification.
