Abstract
The handcuff assembly includes a bow pivotally connected to a cheek plate frame assembly which comprises an integral, one-piece, unitized frame that is die stamped from a single metal plate and which can be overmolded with a polymer overmold. The cheek arms have reinforcing ribs. The molded polymer covering surrounding the cheek arms provide a round on the inner edge of the cheek arms which engage a wrist. The unitized frame has interlocking tabs on folded side plates of a base frame. A deflectable detent is provided on a lockset housing for releaseably locking the lockset assembly within the base frame of the molded cheek plate assembly. A swivel cup is fixed in the base frame of the cheek plate assembly prior to polymer overmolding and a swivel with a swivel pin is received in the swivel cup.
Claims39
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly comprising an integral, one-piece, unitized metal frame formed from a single die stamped metal plate.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly comprising an integral, one-piece, unitized metal frame formed from a single die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame such that a cheek plate assembly with a flush profile is provided.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly comprising a unitized metal frame formed from a die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame such that a cheek plate assembly is provided with a flush profile and which includes a center base frame forming portion and upper and lower arcuate cheek plate forming portions.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly including a unitized metal frame formed from a die stamped metal plate which is folded into said cheek plate arms and said base frame, said base frame including a bottom plate and first and second side plates which have interlocking hook formations defining a frame interlock which reinforces said base frame by the juxtaposition of said hook formations.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly comprising an integral, one-piece, unitized metal frame formed from a single die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame such that a cheek plate assembly including a base frame and parallel spaced cheek arm plates with a flush profile is provided.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs wherein each handcuff assembly comprises a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said bow being made of sintered metal powder and said cheek plate assembly being stamped and folded from a metal plate.
A cheek plate assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs comprising an integral one-piece, unitized metal frame formed from a single die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame to form a cheek plate assembly including a base frame and parallel spaced cheek arm plates with a flush profile.
A cheek plate assembly for use in a pair of handcuffs comprising a unitized metal frame formed from a die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame to form a cheek plate assembly including a base frame and parallel spaced cheek arm plates with a flush profile and said base frame including a bottom plate and first and second side plates which have interlocking hook formations defining a frame interlock which reinforces said base frame by the juxtaposition of said hook formations.
A handcuff comprising a cheek plate assembly comprising an integral, one-piece, unitized metal frame formed from a single die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame cheek plate assembly with a base frame and a pair of cheek plates and such that a cheek plate assembly with a flush profile is provided.
A method for constructing a cheek plate assembly for use in handcuff comprising a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of the cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, said method comprising the step of forming an integral, one-piece, unitized metal frame from a single die stamped metal plate by folding the single die stamped plate to form the cheek plate assembly with parallel cheek plates and the base frame.
In a handcuff assembly for use in a handcuff comprising a bow pivotally connected to and between cheek plates of a cheek plate assembly that also includes a base frame containing a lock mechanism, the improvement residing in said cheek plate assembly comprising a unitized metal frame formed from a die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame and includes upper and lower arcuate cheek plate arms each having a reinforcing rib stamped therein.
A handcuff including a cheek plate assembly comprising a unitized metal frame formed from a die stamped metal plate which is folded into said unitized metal frame to form said cheek plate assembly with a base frame and a pair of cheek plate arms, said base frame having facing sides each having a track guide forming arcuate detent stamped therein toward the other facing side adjacent one corner of said base frame and forming and defining a bowed out arcuate strip which is arranged to be received in one of the track grooves in a bow of the handcuff.
