Abstract
Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for constructing a convex polygon that encloses a set of points in a region. This method identifies a first polygon that encloses the set of points. It then identifies a second polygon that encloses the set of points. The method then specifies the convex polygon as the intersection of the first and second polygons.
Claims9
A method of identifying a distance between an external point and a convex polygon that encloses a set of points in a region of an IC design layout, the method comprising:
- a) identifying a first polygon that encloses the set of points;
- b) identifying a second polygon that encloses the set of points, wherein the overlap of the first and second polygons defines the convex polygon;
- c) identifying a first distance between the external point and a point on or within the first polygon;
- d) identifying a second distance between the external point and a point on or within the second polygon;
- and
- e) identifying the distance between the external point and the convex polygon using the first and second distances.
