Abstract
The subject invention encompasses compounds of the formula: wherein R1, R2, and R3 are as defined herein. The subject invention also concerns methods for synthesizing the compounds of the invention. The invention also concerns compositions comprising the above compounds as well as methods for treating pain in a patient, where the method comprises administering a compound of the invention to a patient in need of such treatment.

The opioid compounds having the following structure:
- wherein, R1 and R2 are, independently, H or CH3 and R3 is alkyl, provided that when R3 is methyl, then R1 and R2 are not simultaneously H.
