Abstract
An infrared thermometer comprises a detecting portion provided with a waveguide (8) having a tubular conformation and capable of conveying the infrared radiation emitted from a detecting surface towards a sensor member (7) housed within the infrared-thermometer holding body; the waveguide has the conformation of a parabola the extension of which increasingly more converges in the direction of the sensor member (7).
Claims34
A waveguide for an infrared thermometer comprising:
- a tubular body having an inner surface defining a communicating passage between a first and a second opening of the tubular body opposite each other, said inner surface having at least one portion converging in the direction of the second opening, said convergent portion comprising at least two axially consecutive lengths in which the length closer to the second opening has a greater convergence than the other length, said convergent portion of the inner surface having a convergence progressively and continuously increasing from said first opening towards said second opening limited by respective borders, said second opening being interposed between the first opening and one sensor member of infrared-radiation intensity disposed outside the wave-guide, said inner surface defining in longitudinal section curved lines which are symmetrically opposite with respect to the longitudinal symmetry axis of the tubular body itself, said opposite curved lines converging progressively and in a manner increasingly more marked on moving from said first opening towards said second opening, each of said curved lines being a conic section.
An infrared thermometer comprising:
- a main holding body intended to define at least one grip region for a user;
- detecting means for an infrared radiation emitted by a body the temperature of which is wished to be known, said detecting means being operatively associated with the main holding body and having at least one sensor member of infrared-radiation intensity and at least one waveguide having a first end, turned towards the body the temperature of which is wished to be known, and a second end turned towards said sensor member;
- said waveguide having an inner surface defining a communicating passage between a first and a second opening opposite each other, said second opening being interposed between the first opening and the sensor member;
- said inner surface having at least one portion converging in the direction of the second opening, said convergent potion of the waveguide comprising at least two lengths that are axially consecutive to each other, the length closest to the second opening having a greater convergence than the other length, said convergent portion of the inner surface having a convergence progressively and continuously increasing from said first opening towards said second opening;
- and
- at least one light source placed to a predetermined distance from said sensor member and operatively associated with the main holding body as well.

- detecting means for an infrared radiation emitted by a body the temperature of which is wished to be known, said detecting means being operatively associated with the main holding body and having at least one sensor member of infrared-radiation intensity and at least one waveguide having a first end, turned towards the body the temperature of which is wished to be known, and a second end turned towards said sensor member,
- said waveguide having an inner surface defining a passage for bringing into communication first and second openings opposite to each other, the openings being limited by respective borders;
- said inner surface having at least one portion converging in the direction of the second opening, said convergent portion of the waveguide comprising at least two lengths that are axially consecutive to each other, in which the length which is the closest to the second opening has a greater convergence than the other length;
- a radiation-absorbing element axially interposed between said waveguide and sensor member.
