A process for hydroformylating an olefin having from 3 to 16 carbon atoms, in the presence of a rhodium catalyst, wherein the rhodium catalyst comprises rhodium and at least one diphosphine ligand of formula

- R=3,5-C6H3F2;
- —C6F5;
- 2,4,5-C6H2F3, 3,5-C6H3(CF3)2;
- 3,5-C6H3(CH3)2 or 3,4,5-C6H2F3, and the n/i selectivity of the aldehydes obtained by said hydroformylating is above 85:15.
