Abstract
A method and apparatus for measuring a multiport device using a multiport test set connects one port of the multiport device to a stimulus signal and terminates all remaining ports in a respective load. A response to a stimulus signal is measured on all ports of the multiport device and the measured responses are corrected with calibration data to characterize the multiport device.
Claims24
A method of measuring a multiport device using a multiport test set comprising the steps of:
- connecting one port of the multiport device to a stimulus signal,
- terminating all remaining ports of the multiport device in a respective dedicated load,
- measuring a response to the stimulus signal on all ports of the multiport device, and
- correcting said measured responses with calibration data to characterize the multiport device.
An apparatus for measuring a multiport device comprising:
- a stimulus signal generator supplying a stimulus signal,
- a measurement receiver,
- a single-pole, multiple-throw switch capable of connecting any one of a plurality of ports of the multiport device to said stimulus signal,
- a plurality of single-pole double-throw switches dedicated to respective ones of said plurality of ports, each single-pole double-throw switch capable of connecting each said port to said receiver and of terminating each port in a respective dedicated load.
An apparatus for measuring a multiport device comprising:
- a multiport test set, a stimulus signal, and at least one receiver,
- means for connecting one port of the multiport device to said stimulus signal,
- means for terminating all remaining ports of the multiport device in a respective dedicated load,
- said receiver measuring a response to said stimulus signal on all ports of the multipart device, and
- means for correcting said measured responses with calibration data to characterize the multipart device.
