Pressure actuated locking device

A locking device, comprising a housing having a first opening, a second opening and an outlet, the first opening communicating with the outlet via a channel in the housing;

• a J or U shaped insertable member having first and second arms which are rigidly joined to one another, the first arm being adapted to be slidingly insertable through the first opening and into the channel and the second arm being simultaneously slidingly insertable through the second opening;
• a locking mechanism biased to resist withdrawal of the first arm through the first opening, wherein the locking mechanism is lockably engageable with the first arm upon insertion of the insertable member into the housing and, when so lockably engaged, removable therefrom by severing of the first arm at a position between the locking mechanism and the second arm followed by deflection of the locking mechanism against its bias by removal of the severed end of the first arm through the outlet;
• and
• a secondary locking member adapted to lockably engage with the first arm when an applied shock displaces the locking mechanism out of engagement with the first arm.
