Abstract
A gasket for sealing between a wall and a gasket support surface, such as between an oven housing and an oven door. The gasket includes a clip, the clip typically being made from a single strand of wire. The wire is bent into a head and a base, the base for engaging the gasket and head dimensioned for engagement with a wall for a support surface.
Claims16
A clip for an elongated gasket-like member having a mesh core and a woven sheath around the mesh core, the clip comprising:
- a head having an apex, a pair of shoulders and a neck and having a longitudinal axis;
- and
- a base attached to the head, the base comprising a multiplicity of coil courses, all of the coil courses having the same radius of curvature R, the radius of the coil at an origin of the longitudinal axis of the head, the coil courses having a plane, the longitudinal axis of the head perpendicular to the coil courses and the head originating at and extending above the coil courses at the center of curvature.
A clip comprising:
- a single strand of resilient wire, the strand having a first and a second end,
- a portion of the single strand defining a head having a longitudinal axis, the head including the first end of the wire;
- and
- a portion of the single strand defining a base, the base having a multiplicity of coil courses, each course having the same radius of curvature R, the longitudinal axis of the head perpendicular to, originating at, and extending above the coiled base at the center of curvature.
A sealing apparatus for sealing between two adjacent surfaces, one of which may be an apparatus support surface, the sealing apparatus comprising:
- a gasket;
- and
- a clip engaged with the gasket, the clip having a head and a coiled base, the coiled base comprising a multiplicity of courses, all of the courses with the same radius of curvature, the longitudinal axis of the head perpendicular to, originating at, and extending above the coiled base at the center of curvature of the courses.
