Abstract
The present invention provides a method of making a fluoropolymer comprising repeating units derived from one or more gaseous fluorinated monomers. The method comprises an aqueous emulsion polymerization of gaseous fluorinated monomers in the presence of an ether selected from the group consisting of dimethyl ether (DME), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and mixtures thereof.
Claims5
Fluoropolymer having a multi-modal molecular weight distribution and comprising less than 12% by weight of extractable compounds as measured by leaving the fluoropolymer in methyl ethyl ketone for 70 hours at 40° C.
Core-shell fluoropolymer having less than 12% by weight of extractable compounds as measured by leaving the fluoropolymer in methyl ethyl ketone for 70 hours at 40° C.
Core-shell fluoropolymer having an amorphous core and a semi-crystalline shell.
