Active removal of aliasing frequencies in a decimating structure by changing a decimation ratio in time and space

A method for aliased interference avoidance comprising:

• decimating a sample stream using k different decimating ratios, where k is a number;
• measuring a signal power level at a frequency band of interest for each of the k decimated sample streams;
• selecting a minimal measured signal power level;
• and
• using a decimating ratio that is associated with the minimal measured signal power level in further decimation.

A method for aliased interferer avoidance comprising:

• decimating a sample stream using n different decimating ratios, where n is a number greater than two;
• measuring a signal power level at a frequency band of interest for each of the n decimated sample streams;
• determining a number of measured signal powers that are equal;
• and
• using a decimating ratio that is associated with the equal measured signal power if the number of equal measured signal powers is a majority of n.
