Abstract
A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film having a skin layer having oil-absorbing voids is disclosed. The film has substantially a small amount of void-initiating particles in the skin layer and typically no fillers in the core layer. Yet the film shows no visible distortion after exposure to food products such as potato chips.
Claims21
A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film comprising a metallized layer and a skin layer having a surface exposed to an environment surrounding the film, the skin layer being a single layer and comprising oil-absorbing voids adjacent to the surface, wherein a thickness of said skin layer is in a range of about 1% to about 40% of the total thickness of the film, wherein the voids contain particles and a weight percent of the particles on a basis of the total weight of the skin layer is about 0.5% to about 15%.
