Abstract
This invention provides methods of retentate chromatography for resolving analytes in a sample. The methods involve adsorbing the analytes to a substrate under a plurality of different selectivity conditions, and detecting the analytes retained on the substrate by desorption spectrometry. The methods are useful in biology and medicine, including clinical diagnostics and drug discovery.
Claims21
A method for diagnosing a disease in a subject by detecting a plurality of diagnostic markers of the disease comprising the steps of:
- a) contacting at least one adsorbent that is attached to a substrate with a biological sample from the subject to allow the at least one adsorbent to bind the diagnostic markers;
- b) washing the at least one adsorbent with at least one eluant to remove unbound material and to allow retention of the diagnostic markers by the at least one adsorbent;
- c) detecting retained diagnostic markers by desorption spectrometry;
- and
- d) providing a diagnosis based on detection of the plurality of diagnostic markers.
