Abstract
Fluorine-containing emulsifiers can be removed from fluoropolymer dispersions by adding to the dispersion a nonionic emulsifier, removing the fluorine-containing emulsifier by contact with an anion exchanger and separating the dispersion from the anion exchanger. The resulting dispersions can be concentrated and used for coating applications.
Claims14
An aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion prepared in the presence of a fluorine-containing emulsifier by aqueous emulsion polymerization, comprising a fluoropolymer dispersion prior to upconcentration having a solids content of at least 15% by weight and less than 100 ppm of fluorine-containing emulsifier.
