Abstract
The present invention includes a traction fluid that includes an alkyl bridged dimer of bicycloheptane. Methods of using alkyl bridged dimers of bicycloheptane in traction fluids are also disclosed.
Claims16
A composition comprising a traction fluid that includes at least one compound according to at least one of the following formulas:
- wherein R1 and R3 are, independently, H or straight or branched alkyl groups with 1 to 8 carbons, R2 is straight or branched alkyl groups with 1 to 10 carbons, and x, y, z are, independently, 0 to 4.
A method of operating a transmission, comprising:
- lubricating a toroidal continuously variable transmission with a traction fluid that includes at least one compound according to at least one of the following formulas:
- wherein R1 and R3 are, independently, H or straight or branched alkyl groups with 1 to 8 carbons, R2 is straight or branched alkyl groups with 1 to 10 carbons, and x, y, z are, independently, 0 to 4.
